Excitement mounts at Hermes as the anticipation rises for the Scottish Cup draw.

The draw for the William Hill Scottish Cup Preliminary Rounds will take place at Hampden tomorrow, Friday 10th July at 3pm.

The draw will be made by David Moyes, manager of Real Sociedad, assisted by Alan McRae, SFA President, and, hopefully there will be a live feed from the SFA Website.

There will be 5 byes and 5 ties in the First Preliminary Round, to be played on the 15th August 2015 with the winners of the ties going on to meet the five clubs who got byes on 5 September.

This will be Hermes second venture into the ‘big’ Scottish, their first being a 4-1 defeat by Deveronvale in 2012.

There will only be 4 Junior clubs in the preliminary draws this season as Auchinleck Talbot qualified as winners of the Scottish Junior Cup and the West Superleague. The other qualifiers are Kelty Hearts (East Superleague Winners) and North Champions Hermes. Girvan are in the draw as Licence holding members of the SFA.

An interesting fact is that SFA President Alan McRae played against north side Hermes when they were an amateur club in the 1960’s and 70’s.

Alan turned out for a team called Chattan Rovers before moving on to Cove Rangers where he guided them on to the Juniors (for a single season) and then into the Highland league, ending up as Chairman and earning a place in the hierarchy of the SFA.
