THE Scottish Junior Cup has a new sponsor in community heating firm ETHX Energy.

And they are set for a red hot start to their backing after yesterday’s third round draw threw up some cracking ties.

Roger, Tom and James at Scottish draw

SunSport hosted the event at our Glasgow offices for the sixth year on the trot.

The last 64 ties were pulled out the hat just hours after we revealed details of the new arrangement between the SJFA and ETHX to back their blue riband tourney for this season, with the option of a further three years.

Director James Montgomery teamed up with SunSport’s Roger Hannah to line up some real thrillers for November 21.

Two West Premier v East Superleague ties caught the eye with Petershill at home to last season’s runners-up Musselburgh, a second straight draw at home to an East giant for Peasies after they saw off Newtongrange.

And Troon will host Bo’ness United at Portland Park in another exciting encounter.

Other East big guns landed tricky away trips, with Superleague champs Kelty off to Holm Park to take on Clydebank and Camelon away to West First aces Kilsyth.

Bonnyrigg go to a Jeanfield side looking for another major scalp after winning at Glenafton in the second round.

SJFA secretary Tom Johnston welcomed the news of the sponsorship boost and said: “We are delighted to team up with ETHX Energy and have them on board backing the Scottish Cup.

“We are hoping it’s a partnership that will prove beneficial to both of us over the course of this season and hopefully beyond that.

“We have had a couple of short-term sponsorships for the Scottish Cup recently so it is great to have someone on board we can hopefully work with over coming seasons.”

ETHX help local authorities and public bodies address the challenge of reducing carbon emissions and costs, and focus on the design, installation, operation and maintenance of heating systems for homes and public buildings.

Director Montgomery added: “We are very much about community heating and recognise the big part that junior football plays in a lot of the communities we work in.

“We’re pleased to link up with the SJFA and feel it’s a natural fit for the two of us to work together.”
