First up in our Inside The Juniors feature is Paul Jain – more better known as Mr Fixit of the Daily Record.

Here is talks about his love for Clydebank

When did you first start watching your club?

I first saw Clydebank as a senior team in 1975 when I was something like minus 10! I supported them from the start of their junior adventure.

Why did you start supporting the club?

Most of my friends supported Celtic or Rangers and my parents were reluctant for me to go to their games at a young age. A neighbour started taking his boys and me to watch Clydebank and I was hooked. Funnily his sons became Celtic fans.

What’s the greatest game you have been to?

There have been loads including the famous 7-1 thrashing of Partick Thistle and also a 7-1 win at Morton when Bankies played like Barcelona (and that was the Greenock viewpoint). My best moment in the juniors would be beating Pollok on penalties to reach the Junior Cup Final in 2009. It was a great achievement at the time for a new team in the lower leagues and boy did we celebrate.

Best moment as a fan?

Probably beating Rangers in the Premier League in 1986 – my first memory of Clydebank winning a competitive game against either half of the Old Firm. Ally McCoist scored Rangers’ consolation and Graeme Souness had just been announced as boss. In the juniors three promotions and three cup final wins – nothing beats winning.

Worst moment as a fan?

Clydebank being sold and transformed into Airdrie United which meant there was no club until fans formed a junior team a year later. In the juniors it would be the cup final defeat to Auchinleck – that ruined a great day out at Rugby Park.

Favourite Junior ground?

Pollok – because we always win there (including cup finals). It’s a nice compact ground usually with a good crowd.

Best Player At Your Club.

I’d say Mark Burbidge – certainly the most exciting. Johnny Allan and Joel Kasubandi are up there.

Best Player At Another Club.

Got to pick Ross McPherson, our ex-striker who is at Irvine Meadow. Best we’ve come up against this season reluctantly is Largs’ James Marks. He always scores against us.

Best food in the juniors?

Do I look like I enjoy a pie? Largs and Medda do well with their chilli and stew and Beith’s pies are top notch. Best pie I tasted was at Kirriemuir for a friendly – a steak stoater. Ain’t found a decent salad yet.

Hopes for the season?

Promotion has to be the priority but a good runs would be good. Nice to see the team entertaining again – last season was dull and pretty pointless.
