BSC Amateurs Confirm New Signings

By Chief Reporter Tom Scott

BSC AMATEURS manager Chris Ward has  revealed 11 players have put pen to paper as the club prepare for life in the Fosters Central Scottish League next month, writes Tom Scott.

Two pre-season friendlies against Thorn Athletic and Drumchapel Amateurs Colts have failed to produce a victory as boss Ward continues to run the rule over several trialists.

Five newcomers were part of a 17-man squad which lost 1-0 against Drumchapel Amateurs Colts at Scotstoun.

Said Chris:  “We lost a poor goal from a corner in the first half and never really got out of gear in the first 45 minutes.

“Drumchapel had the majority of the chances although they couldn’t capitalise. “In the second half, we made six changes and started at a much higher tempo by pressing high and keeping the ball when we had it.

“We created a barrow load of chances to win the game, but we weren’t clinical enough. “It was another good run out and test for my team but we now need to start winning games, and get ourselves into a winning run before the league starts in August.

“We also made our first signings over the last week. “The list reads Dan Harrigan, Gavin MacLeod, Archie Prince, Chris Dougherty, Chris Neilson, Barry Neilson, Stephen Mather, Kris Scullion, Gerry Divers, Sean Magee and Craig Marshall.

“We hope to add to our squad this week, and are still looking for players to strengthen in outfield positions.”

BSC continue the pre-season programme with an away game at East Kilbride Y.M. on Saturday.

Other fixtures are:  July 23 – Dumbarton Academy F.P. (home), July 27 – Giffnock North (home), July 30 – Shawbridge (away), August 1 – St Mungo (away), and Windlaw (away).
