SSMAFL Premier Division club Dennistoun Vale have been making major summer changes as they bid to improve on last season’s domestic campaign, writes Tom Scott.

The East End club finished a point behind Premier Division champions, Blochairn Star, and the squad has undergone some major surgery ahead of Saturday’s opening warm-up game away to Blairdardie.

Official Gavin McLean broke the exclusive news to TheJuniors.Info site when he revealed: “Our squad has broken up with up to 8 players having to retire through age or work commitments.

“I have been rebuilding the squad over the past month, and have 9 new faces in at the moment.”

McLean was keeping his cards close to his chest with regards to naming the summer signings, but did provide me with a list of all pre-season friendlies.

The list reads:  July 16 – Blairdardie (away), July 23 – Ferguslie Star (home), July 26 – Semsa (away), July 30 –  Springburn Thistle (away), and August 6 –  UB United (home).

Adam Coakley and Darren O’Donnell are pictured alongside the club’s excellent sponsor, Claudio, Of Celinos Deli.
