Graeme Ramage Interview

This week Kello Rovers and former St. Mirren, Dumbarton, Annan, Clydebank, Shettleston and Yoker midfielder Graeme Ramage agreed to answer a few questions for…….

Can you think back to your very first football memory? Always remember playing for my boys club team scoring 15 goals in one game! 

What team do you support and why did you start watching them? Rangers as all my family supported them.

Best match you’ve been to and best moment as a fan? Rangers 5-1 Killie and winning the league, playing against Rangers for Annan.

Favourite all time player and reasons why? David Beckham, growing up he was the main man!

Which youth sides did you play for as a youngster? Few local teams in Dumbarton before signing with St. Mirren,

How did you get into junior football and what are your thoughts on the experience so far? At Annan I had a bad injury which required me having to get an op, Annan released me after insuring I would be getting a new contract so I had to find a club to get my fitness back again. I have enjoyed it a lot! 

What has been your favourite ground to visit/play at and why? My favourite ground to play at was Ibrox playing against the team I have supported my whole life and in front of a crowd of over 40,000 was a great experience. 

Best player you’ve played alongside and against? Best player to play with would be Andy Stirling at Dumbarton now or Kenny Mclean at Aberdeen now best to play against would be Ki when he was at Celtic.

Are you in favour of the league pyramid? Why? Yes it gives teams in the lowland league an incentive. 

Your thoughts on junior sides playing in the Scottish Cup? Its great for the junior teams.

Are there any rule changes that you’d like to see introduced to the game? No.

Traditional grass pitches or artificial surfaces? Why? Grass for a game and Astro for training.  

Who has been the biggest influence on your football career? My dad, Uncle Darryl and my gran have been my biggest influences though-out my ‘career’.

Best manager or coach you’ve worked alongside? Best manager for me was Harry Cairney when I joined Annan he gave me so much freedom and helped me through the short spell I had with him.

Your ambitions for the club and as an individual? My ambitions for the club would be to be pushing  to win the league, for me to have another crack at senior football again.

Are you any good at any other sports? I am not the worst at golf which I enjoy playing.

Proudest moment in football? Playing at Parkhead at 17 for St. Mirren.

What is your pre match routine and meal? Don’t really have any routine or meal.

Any interests outside of football? Golf, spending time with my mates/family and girlfriend.

What is the day job? Work for Renfrewshire Leisure.

Favourite all time movie and current favourite? As a kid I used to watch Wizard of Oz, my favourite movie just now would be.. 

Do you read and if so what do you read? I don’t read much.

What type of food do you enjoy eating? If you know me I enjoy any type of food!!

Any words of wisdom for youngsters getting into football? Get your head down and work hard!
