Vics Announce Signing Of Former Girvan Keeper

Whitletts Victoria are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Steven Douglas. The 36 year old shot stopper, has agreed to join the Dam Park club after a season away from the game after being a key member of the Girvan side that won the Ayrshire District League in 2015/16 season.
This will be Douglas’ second spell with the Ayr side, having kept goal for the Club during their years in the Superleague, during which time he was voted the Clubs Player of the Year.
“I took a year out last season but didn’t realise how much I missed the game” said Stevie “so when the chance to return to Whitletts arose I didn’t need much persuasion. It is a Club I know well and they have a desire to succeed and I look forward to playing my part in helping them to achieve that success.”
Manager Neil Duffy welcomed Douglas to the Club and said that his experience would be invaluable for the new campaign.
“Stevie Douglas is one of the best goalkeepers in the junior game. He’s a winner and has a presence in the penalty area and is very agile for such a big man. He played against us last year when he turned out to help out Craigmark and it was as if he’d never been away as he turned in a fantastic performance.”
“He will be a major asset to Whitletts in the new season and his experience will be invaluable to the younger players in our squad.”
Douglas is manager Neil Duffy’s third new signing this close season following on from the capture of Issac Kerr and Martin Lawrie.
