Latest Whitletts Victoria News

Whitletts Victoria will play Beith Juniors in a friendly on Wednesday evening at Bellsdale Park with a 7pm kick off.

This match was arranged following the postponement of Saturday’s match at Newton Stewart whose Blairmount Park all weather surface was unplayable due to it being waterlogged!!

On Saturday, the Vics will entertain Superleague side Larkhall Thistle at Dam Park for the John Scarlett Trophy. That match will kick off at 2.30pm and will be preceded the Clubs’ amateur side hosting Greater Glasgow Premier League champions Robslee. That match will have a 12 noon kick off. Entry to the double header will be £3 adults £2 concessions with children under 16 FREE.

Meanwhile Whitletts Victoria Amateurs continued their pre-season build up with matches against First Division Crosshill and Kilmarnock side Bellfield Lochan.

Last Wednesday evening the Amateurs suffered their first loss pre-season when they went down 4-3 at Crosshill. Mick Young scored an early goal to give Vics the lead but the home side soon equalised before taking the lead from a free kick on the hour mark. Young netted his second, this time from the penalty spot moments later but Thistle scored twice in quick succession to give the First Division side the upper hand. Jordan Baird reduced the leeway for Vics with two minutes to go and Danny Swan nearly snatched an injury time equaliser but his header slipped agonisingly wide

Swan had more success on Saturday thought as Whitletts ran out 4-1 winners at Bellfield Lochan. An early penalty from Young gave Whitletts the advantage with Bellfield’s response being sandwiched between Tony Balfour strikes to put Vics 3-1 ahead before Swan scored a 25 yards screamer into the top corner to complete the scoring

Amateurs boss Stevie Glass has also strengthened his squad by signing Marty Douglas and Colin Roach

Meanwhile the under 21’s will play hosts Drongan United in the semi-final of the Drongan Summer Cup on Tuesday night after finishing runners up in their qualifying section. A very young Vics side drew both their matches in their section, 3-3 against Ochiltree with goals from Josh Taylor, Lee McClymont and Regan Forwell before coming out 3-2 winners in a penalty shoot-out but on Thursday night lost the penalty shoot-out by the same margin after a 0-0 draw with Troon Dundonald who will play Auchinleck Boswell in the other semi-final.
