Ayrshire Junior Preview – 10.02.18

Form is from all competitions and is shown with the most recent match on the left-hand side.

21/10 WDLLWX Arthurlie 4/1 Cumnock WLWWXW 4/6

Arthurlie needed a replay to put their Scottish Cup tie with Gartcairn to bed, and as you might expect they’re struggling at second bottom in the league having taken seven points from ten games.  They’ve taken three points from a possible twenty-four since their last league win. ‘Nock have pulled away from the bottom after problems of their own, they’re unbeaten in last four in the league and that includes wins in their last three.

13/5 LLXLLW Clydebank 21/5 Kilbirnie Ladeside WLXXWX 8/15

The Bankies continue to prop up the table despite finding enough to lift the Sectional League Cup against Pollok earlier in the season. They lost the opposite fixture 2-1 at Valefield and have only picked up a point since last league win at the end of September. Ladeside are currently fifth and nine points behind the Buffs. They had a six-match unbeaten run that saw them win three and draw three before Talbot beat them 5-0 in their last league match.

33/10 LXXWLL Girvan 9/2 Pollok LWWWWX 2/5

Girvan are fourth from bottom with eight points from nine league games and have suffered from lots of draws (2-2 away at Pollok) and lots of postponements. Their last league win came against Hurlford back in September, and they’ve played only four league games since with two draws and two defeats. Prior to last Saturdays narrow 2-1 defeat against Talbot, ‘Lok had gone nine league games unbeaten with five wins and four draws.

13/8 LXLWLL Glenafton Athletic 15/4 Kilwinning Rangers XWWWLW 20/23

Double winning Glens have struggled to replicate last season’s form, they’re currently eighth and sixteen points behind the Buffs with three in hand. In their last six league games they’ve went unbeaten in three, before picking up only a point from their last three after a draw against Kilwinning. League leaders Kilwinning notched up seven straight league wins until the Glens held them to a 1-1 draw at Abbey Park last time out.

19/5 WLWLLW Hurlford United 9/2 Auchinleck Talbot WWWWLW 4/11

United are struggling in third bottom after picking up only seven points from ten games, they were beaten 4-1 by Talbot back in August and have picked up a single point from a possible fifteen since last win against Cumnock in mid-September. Auchinleck are second top and three points off the lead, they’ve won six, drew one and lost to leaders Kilwinning in their last eight league games.

7/4 WWLWLW Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 18/5 Beith Juniors WLXWWW 5/6

Mighty are five points off the top in fifth place, Rab’s three places and six points behind having played a game less. Rob Roy went six unbeaten with four wins and a couple of draws before suffering back to back defeats against Glens and Auchinleck. They bounced back last time out with a 1-0 win against Beith at Bellsdale. Mighty started the league with five straight wins, form then dipped and seen them lose three, win two and draw two of last seven.

1/4 LWWWWX Ardrossan Winton Rovers 6/1 Annbank United LLLWWL 9/2

Rovers are fourth from top and two points behind leaders Irvine Vics but have played three extra games. They seem to have gotten over poor early form with a 5-2 win against Annbank, then winning five of their next seven league games. United have won three and lost six in the league. Their best form came in December when they won back to back league matches for the only time, but then lost their last couple away to Lugar and Maybole.

6/5 DLWLWW Craigmark Burntonians 18/5 Whitletts Victoria WLXLXL 6/5

Craigmark are a couple of points off the top of the ADL and have lost one and drawn one of their last two in the league. Before that they’d won seven including a 3-0 win away to Whitletts and lost only once to leaders Irvine Vics. Vics havent been at their best of late, they’d picked up only one point from a possible twelve after a draw against Muirkirk before bouncing back with a 2-1 win away to Maybole last time out.

2/9 WLWXWW Dalry Thistle 6/1 Saltcoats Victoria LXLLWW 5/1

Thistle are unbeaten in the league with five wins and a draw, they’re eight points off the top in fifth place with four games in hand over the leaders. Earlier in the season they hammered Vics 6-0 and are averaging 3.5 goals a game and conceding just 0.5. Vics are third from bottom with seven points from twelve games and have played a few more games than the sides either side of them. They’ve picked up a point from a possible twelve in last four league games.

4/7 WLWLLL Lugar Boswell Thistle 9/2 Ardeer Thistle WLLLLW 9/4

Both sides have played nine ADL games and occupy the bottom half of the table, Lugar with thirteen points and Ardeer six. Since facing eight straight league postponements Lugar have won two from last three. Ardeer have also had their call offs and lost three on the bounce before winning last time out against Saltcoats.

13/5 LLXLLL Muirkirk Juniors 9/2 Maybole Juniors LWWLWW 1/2

Muirkirk are bottom after picking up just one win and a draw from their nine league games. They’ve managed just one point from five games since beating Saltcoats back in September and taken a 9-1 beating from Maybole in November. The Bole are second top and two points off the lead having played a few more games than Irvine Vics and won four of their last six league matches.

2/5 LWWLXX Darvel Juniors 5/1 Shettleston LLWLLW 31/10

Both sides have played fourteen league fixtures, but Darvel have five wins, four draws and five defeats, whilst ‘Town have two wins, two draws and ten defeats. All of Darvel’s last six have come in the league, with the defeats coming against Troon and Largs, sides just above them in the table. Recent outings have seen ‘Town lose 5-0 to Cambuslang and 2-0 to Peasy, but they did beat Darvel by the odd goal at Greenfield back in early October.

2/5 WLWWLW Irvine Meadow XI 5/1 Kilsyth Rangers LLLWLX 31/10

Both sides sit in the bottom half of the table with eleven points, Medda having played ten and Rangers twelve. Medda havent played many league game recently due to Scottish Cup call offs, but since winning their opening two games they’ve only picked up five points from a possible twenty-four. Kilsyth have suffered cup postponements too, in their last six they’ve won two, drawn one and lost all of their last three.

13/5 LLWWLX Kello Rovers 9/2 Renfrew WLWXWL 1/2

Rovers are ninth with twelve points from eleven games, they’ve won two of their last three league games but those have been spread over three months due to postponements, more recently they were beaten 3-2 by Troon in the cup. Renfrew are five points behind leaders Peasy in second place and beat Rovers 2-0 early on in the league season. Their last six league games have seen them win three, lose two and draw one.

9/4 LWWWXW Largs Thistle 9/2 Petershill WWLLWX 4/7

After an unbeaten five game league spell in which they drew twice then won three back to back, fifth placed Theesel narrowly lost out to Medda last time out. League leaders Peasy went ten league game without defeat after nine wins (including a 4-1 win against Largs) and a draw, before losing to Glencairn. They’ve since bounced back with a 2-0 win away at Troon and a 2-0 win at home against Shettleston to go five points clear at the top.

8/11 WLWLWL Troon 21/5 Cumbernauld United WLXXXW 9/5

Fourth placed Troon are ten points off the pace at the top of the table and since losing to Medda on the opening day, have won seven, drawn three and lost twice. The two defeats came in their last three against leaders Peasy and second placed Renfrew.
