Newmains Appoint Assistant Manager

McBookie.com Central District League Second Division bottom-markers, Newmains United Community Football Club, have appointed Gary Dunnery as their new assistant manager.

Dunnery, who has a wealth of amateur football experience, won the Sunday Central League Two championship with The Rose A.F.C. last season, faces a baptism of fire against high-flying league leaders St Anthony this weekend.

Newmains had been without a home game since September 30 until they lost 6-3 against Royal Albert last Saturday.

The visitors struck twice early on, but Robbie McClay and Eddie Haley hit back before Albert struck again for a 4-2 interval advantage. On the restart Newmains trailed 6-2, and Kevin Sweeney replied to complete the scoring.

Burgh Sportsman’s Dinner Date

 Johnstone Burgh will have John Gahagan and Chic Charnley as guest speakers at their Sportsman’s Dinner on Saturday, March 31.

Recently appointed manager, Jamie McKim, has brought in several new signings in a determined bid to haul the Keanie Park club up from second bottom – three wins after 10 games – in the McBookie.com Central District League Second Division.

Among the new recruits is experienced midfielder Stephen Hopewell (Pictured Left).

Kilsyth Deal in Lie Striker Watson

Arthurlie have agreed a deal with Kilsyth Rangers to complete the transfer of striker Jamie Watson to Duncansfield Park.

Bellshill-born Watson has played at senior level with Airdrie, Raith Rovers and Clyde, who loaned him out to Shettleston in November 2016. He moved from Cumbernauld United to Arthurlie in October 2017.

Meanwhile, defender Steven Tart, who had spells with Bellshill and Rossvale, is up-for-sale at Dunterlie Park. Clubs are asked to contact Arthurlie via stephen.connelly92@gmail.com.

Yoker Athletic’s loan signing from Petershill Juniors, striker Gary Hynes, made an immediate impact last Saturday – coming off the substitutes’ bench and scoring against Lesmahagow.
